Quite a rarity here, a quirk of 60s USA guitar brand partnerships!

Circa 1963, Fender had nothing in the way of hollowbody electric guitars and as such briefly struck a deal with Harmony. A few guitars were produced under the 'Regal' name, reflected in their advertising at the time (worth doing some research on!). This partnership ended when Fender introduced their own Coronado hollow body by the mid-60s.

Said models had little to do with Fender's Fullerton operation, being produced in Chicago at the Harmony factory to the same specs as a H-75 model, officially designated a Regal model R-273. The only input from Fender was the truss rod cover - note the very specific 3 ply material, I believe the same used on pickguards at the time. The majority of these were left blank, though this one received a factory-engraved Fender logo. I have found a photo of an identical model being held by an English player in the 60s (which may be the exact same guitar - if this sounds like you then please reach out!). Said picture also shows the guitar with a factory Fender 'F' marked pickguard, which has sadly been lost to time.

So there we have it, a piece of lesser-known guitar history from a fleeting collaboration by two of the biggest American manufacturers of the time.
