For sale is a rare Maton DC 545 model Thinline hollowbody electric guitar, built in 1965 (Victoria, Australia).

An often overlooked brand, Maton were producing some fantastic guitars during the golden years which easily go toe-to-toe with their American contemporaries.

This guitar, an early DC 545, is one such example - namely for its beautiful flamed maple top, testament to the unparalleled woods on offer to manufacturers in this part of the world during the period.

Fully hollow with a double florentine cutaway, this guitar is most comparable to a contemporary ES-330 or Casino model. It is set apart however by a few appointments, including 2x factory Maton ‘Big Sound’ (as per their brochure) adjustable pickups. A soft cutaway version of this guitar can be seen being played by The Easybeats’ George Young in a video for ‘Friday On My Mind’.
