Epiphone USA Olympic model electric guitar, dating from 1966.

Built while Epiphone was still under Gibson's stewardship and sharing a factory, the Olympic was produced as an equivalent to the Les Paul Junior / Melody maker as a student model.

Despite the student model designation, make no mistake that this is a full fat Gibson-made 60s solidbody electric. Free of breaks and retaining its original, beautifully-checked Cherry Red finish. Despite being a '66 slimmer nut model, it features a wonderfully fat neck for the period, swiftly tapering up to substantial profile at the 12th fret.

Specs:

  • USA made (Gibson factory)
  • Original Cherry Red finish
  • 2x '66 dated factory pots
  • 1x original Gibson Melody Maker pickup
  • Mahogany solid body
  • Mahogany neck with 'batwing' headstock
  • Original 6-on-a-plate Kluson white button tuners

Condition:

Great condition for a guitar nearing its 60th birthday, free of breaks, repairs or any substantial work. Natural lacquer checking to the factory Cherry finish, marks and dings to head, neck and body and general playing wear throughout. Frets original with life left in them. Wear under bridge from previous alternative bridge (original now installed).

Modifications/repairs:

Repro Epiphone 'E' epsilon logo to guard. Highly convincing quality repro vibrato (these were often taken off and lost, as the original bridge also allows for the guitar to be strung hardtail). One replaced tuner bushing.

Accessories:

None.
