A top of the line Suzuki NY-350 model parlour sized acoustic guitar, made in Japan (1977).
A very short-lived model, essentially their take on a style 0-45 (as leant to Bob Dylan by Joan Baez). This is the rare initial 14 fret model, with the later models adorning a 12 fret neck joint (alongside evolving into the 'Three-S' series - which this predates).
The specs are phenomenal as is the condition, with no expense having been in the construction process which is typical of high-end Japanese acoustics of this vintage.
Specs:
- Solid spruce top
- Rosewood back and sides (the '77 catalogue lists these as being solid)
- Bound rosewood fingerboard
- Ebony bridge
- Mahogany neck
- Abalone bound top and back
- Slotted headstock
- 'Snowflake' & diamond inlays
- 42mm nut width
Condition:
For a guitar nearing its 50th birthday, its condition is phenomenal. There is fine finish swirling from decades of gentle play, but nothing in the way of breaks, damage or repairs. Looking it up and down, there's one barely visible impression mark to the top below the bridge only visible in very fine light (pictured) and a small impression to the right side of the soundhole from the pickup (also pictured). Definitely the cleanest example I've seen!
Modifications/repairs:
All original parts with added Artek pickup and an appropriate input jack to bottom strap pin area.
Accessories:
None.
Playability:
Plays phenomenally with a comfortable low action. Frets in great condition, issue-free and sounding beautiful. All the low end and punch of a parlour guitar but with some added sparkle and resonance, owing to the unparalleled build quality.
