A very rare bird - a 1978 Guild D25 model (mahogany), with a factory-ordered double pickguard.
I’ve seen a few D25 models with a double pickguard, but they’re more often than not a later addition. However, this one was factory ordered as such, as evidenced by the inner label and its retained factory hang tag, both of which denote it as a double pickguard special order.
Specs:
Factory ordered double pickguard
Mahogany finish (though ‘Mahogany’ is the name of the colour, I believe by ‘78 Guild were actually using stained Spruce)
Mahogany sides
Arched back
Rosewood fingerboard
Hard case (slightly later Canadian-built TKL)
Condition:
A 70s survivor with plenty of marks, dings and patina though no breaks, repairs or structural issues. There is lacquer checking throughout, including to the pickguard areas (as with some Martins, at this point they were spraying the finish over the guard, rather than fitting it after). Beautiful patina throughout, lots of playing wear though again, no breaks or repairs.
Modifications/repairs:
None.
Accessories:
Original factory/shop hang tag, slightly later good quality Canadian-built TKL grey-lined fitted hard case.
